RIDGEFIELD— Cly Stephens’ 8-yard touchdown run with 32 seconds left lifted Ridgefield to a 21-18 win over Montesano in a non-league game Friday.

The Spudders dodged a bullet on the previous play when they recovered a fumble to avoid a turnover.

Stephens carried the ball 33 times for 187 yards. The Spudders chewed up 6:44 of clock in the fourth quarter on their game winning drive that included a 26-yard pass from Landon DeBeaumont to sophomore tight end Elias Farley on 3rd and 15.

The drive followed a go-ahead touchdown from the visiting Bulldogs when junior quarterback Tyson Perry rolled right and hit junior running back Toren Crites for a six-yard score that gave Montesano an 18-15 lead with 7:21 remaining.

Ridgefield (2-0) begins 2A GSHL play by hosting Hockinson at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. Montesano (0-2) is at Black Hills at the same time and date.
