WOODLAND – La Center’s Isaac Chromey may wear number zero, but he certainly wasn’t that against Woodland on Friday night.

The senior running back ran around, through and over the Beavers for 193 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns in a resounding 28-0 win over Woodland in a non-league football game at Beaver Stadium.

The Wildcats (2-0 overall) held a scant 7-0 lead for most of the game. A Kaden Emerson 16-yard run gave La Center a bit of breathing room and pulled away in the fourth quarter, turning two interceptions into two touchdowns to put the game away.

And while the Wildcat offense was very good, amassing 312 total yards, the defense was on another level allowing just 16 yards of total offense in the second half. In the process, La Center bottled up Woodland star senior quarterback Elijah Andersen. The reigning 2A Greater St. Helens League Player of the Year was held to five yards rushing and 57 yards passing.

Senior quarterback Wyatt Eiesland threw for 118 yards and senior wide receiver/defensive back Parker McKinney had 64 yards receiving to go with two interceptions. The Wildcats open up 1A Trico League play next week, facing  Columbia-White Salmon in their home opener.

Woodland (0-2 overall) plays host to Washougal in its first 2A GSHL contest of the season. Junior running back Karsen Northcut was the standout for the Beavers, rushing for 11 yards, registering a quarterback sack and blocking a field goal attempt..
