CAMAS – The Camas Lions Club placed second in the float division at the 2024 Camas Days Grand Parade. The parade theme, America the Beautiful, inspired their float, labeled Camas the BEE-utiful, which was decorated with native flowers, bees and butterflies to promote pollinator awareness. They handed out Bit-O-Honey treats and honey-filled hard candies to the crowd. Neil Day, the mastermind behind the float’s construction, donned a bee costume and drove Big Bird (his yellow truck), which carried a model of a giant beehive. Susan Scott, Caleb Day and Jody Cross highlighted the crucial role beekeepers play in maintaining healthy bee populations.

Tim Eubank, Peggy Liggit and Tammie Coelho portrayed butterflies to demonstrate their importance as pollinators and environmental indicators.
