BATTLE GROUND — Ridgefield struggled to find its rhythm on offense Saturday against Prairie.

Luckily, Jake Olsen was the Spudder-on-the-spot to give the Spudders the spark they need.

Olsen recovered two fumbles in the end zone for touchdowns in the first quarter as the Spudders ran away from Prairie 48-7 at District Stadium.

After the Spudders had two stalled possessions, Prairie was in punt formation from its own 12-yard line. Punter Isaac Watson was unable to corral a high snap, and Olsen was there to fall on the loose ball for an early 7-0 lead.

On Prairie’s next possession, Watson scrambled deep in his own territory to avoid the rush of Olsen and Will Andrew. As Watson turned to pass the ball from the end zone, the ball squirted out of his grip, falling backward and Olsen again fell on the ball for a touchdown.

The Spudders’ offense got into the mix late in the first quarter when Noah Stromberg pulled in a 47-yard touchdown pass from Landon DeBeaumont.

Jackson Kimball had a 67-yard reception from Deven Vigue to get Prairie within 21-7 early in the second quarter. But DeBeaumont added two more touchdown passes to give Prairie a 35-7 lead at halftime.

DeBeaumont finished 11-for-14 passing for 243 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a score.

Cly Stephens rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown, and Stromberg had two touchdown receptions.
