Letter: Elections Office shows integrity

By Linda Micheel , VANCOUVER

I am a trained election observer in Clark County, and last week I observed two hours of hand recounting the primary votes at the Elections Office. My observations have made me even more convinced of the security of our voting system here in Washington, specifically in Clark County.

I cannot praise the workers counting and recounting ballots enough. The two I observed most closely were totally professional, aware of the importance of their jobs and getting it right. This was the atmosphere present in the entire room, at all the tables, and with all the different workers doing their specific jobs. A well-oiled machine.

I am thankful for the privilege of being an election observer and recommend that anyone who has doubts about the security of our election system take the training and observe the operations.

I only wish the citizens of Clark County would exercise their right (and duty) to vote more regularly. Check your voter registration. Vote. Always.
