LONGVIEW — Joe Kent and Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, candidates in the hotly-contested race for Washington’s 3rd COngressional District, will debate in Longview on Oct. 7.

The debate, hosted by the Civil Dialogue Project, will begin at 7 p.m. at Lower Columbia College’s Wollenberg Auditorium.

Stephen Warning, debate moderator and founder of the Civil Dialogue Project, said Wednesday morning that Kent had agreed to participate in the debate after originally declining in August. The event would have been a Q&A session with Gluesenkamp Perez if Kent had not participated.

In 2022, the auditorium was the site of a debate between the candidates, moderated by Oregon Public Broadcasting’s “Think Out Loud.”

The Congressional debate will be the last in a series of four being held on Wednesdays by the Civil Dialogue Project.
