Letter: Keep Perez in Congress

During the Civil War, a coalition of male doctors — supported by the Catholic Church — led a movement to push state governments to outlaw abortion. The male-dominated medical profession wanted to take authority from the female-dominated profession of midwives, including the authority to provide abortion. By 1910, abortion was banned nationwide.

Do we want to return to this archaic, male-dominated time with Joe Kent in Congress? He wants no one to be able to receive an abortion regardless of the woman’s condition or circumstance: Rape, life-threatening or the financial ability to care for a child. Let’s keep Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in Congress.
