Letter: Reject ballot initiatives

By Diego Luis Contreras, VANCOUVER
Published: October 31, 2024, 6:00am

Vote “no” on initiatives 2109, 2117, 2124 and 2066. Brian Heywood, a man from California, paid over $6 million of his own money to add the initiatives on the ballot and serve him and his rich friends’ interests.

I-2109 threatens to cut over $2.2 billion in funding for education, child care and early learning in favor of tax breaks for the affluent. I-2117 does not promise lower gas prices, and only promises more pollution. I-2124 will abolish Washington’s long-term care benefit program, while I-2066 is set to raise energy bills and undermine current energy efficiency.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
