Letter: Pay attention to climate change

As a resident of Southwest Washington, I want to address how climate change impacts our region. Summer this past year was one of the hottest ever, witnessing severe droughts that affected our farmers. Furthermore, a series of massive wildfires in the Pacific Northwest not only destroyed conserved nature areas that I hike year-round, but also polluted our air, which is especially lethal to those with lung concerns.

To counter this situation, we need to pass laws for more efficient energy sources and ways to protect the environment.

Everybody can help change their behavior by using less amounts of lighting or eating smaller portions of meat and driving more efficient electric cars. Only together can we preserve Washington’s natural beauty for the generations to come.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
