It’s difficult and rare for any collegiate player to find time on the field as a true freshman.
Ayden Denbo has seen and done just that at Southern Oregon. Saturday, the Mountain View graduate has the best game of his young career in a 57-15 win over Montana State Northern.
Denbo had a season-high five tackles, including two tackles for loss and his first collegiate sack. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker also recovered a fumble.
Denbo has played in four of Southern Oregon’s eight games, recording 11 tackles. The Raiders are 5-1 in the Frontier Conference and ranked No. 10 in the NAIA national poll.
At Mountain View, Denbo led the Thunder to the 3A Greater St. Helens League title last year as the league’s defensive player of the year and a second-team all-state honoree. He was also a state finalist in wrestling and an AP Scholar.
Here’s how other collegiate football players from Clark County at four-year programs fared. (Blank signifies a bye week).
