Letter: Alternatives to chemical use in gardens

Thank you, John Lippe, for your letter regarding organic pest control (Our Readers’ Views, Oct. 18). Like you, I’m disappointed that Allen Wilson missed the opportunity to educate regarding no-chemical yard and garden maintenance. I have few weeds in my quarter-acre yard. Now the bird-friendly native trees, shrubs and flowers flourish in place of the lawn. Insects and pollinators are free to do their thing in a permaculture environment. With some effect, there are alternatives to chemical use.
