Slowpitch softball: Skyview bounces back from loss to stay alive at 4A state tournament

Columbia River, Kelso also drop first-round games in 3A/2A tournament

Skyview bounced back from a first-round defeat to beat Woodinville 11-1 in a loser-out game Friday at the 4A slowpitch softball state tournament in Yakima.

The Storm fell in the first round to Mead of Spokane 16-14, after falling behind 13-0 in the top of the third.

Skyview tallied seven runs in the bottom of the third to stay alive, but Mead extended its lead to 16-7 in the top of the fourth.

The Storm scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, then added four in more in the bottom of the seventh to get within two runs.

Skyview had runners on first and third when the final out was recorded.

Avery Henderson went 4 for 4 with an RBI, Camille Muehlbauer was 3 for 3 with two RBI, Taylor Lies was 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBI and Kenzie Lakin was 3 for 4 with two RBI against Mead.

The Storm scored in five of six innings to beat Woodinville in the loser-out game, which ended in six innings by the 10-run rule.

Madi Johnson went 2 for 3 with two doubles and RBI, Lies went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBI and Ashlyn Vessey was 2 for 2 with an RBI against Woodinville.

Skyview will face Eastmont of East Wenatchee in a third-place semifinal at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Gateway Sports Complex.

3A/2A state

SHADLE PARK 20, COLUMBIA RIVER 11 — Shadle Park of Spokane used a 10-run seventh inning to rally to victory in the first round of the 3A/2A slowpitch softball state tournament.

Columbia River had a five-run third inning to take an 8-1 lead.

But Shadle Park chipped away at the Rapids’ lead, eventually taking a 10-9 lead with two runs in the top of the sixth.

Columbia River reclaimed the lead on a two-run single by Sydney Siebert-Wilder in the bottom of the sixth.

But Shadle Park’s 10-run seventh dropped River into the consolation bracket.

Ava Pratoussy went 4 for 4, Brooklynn Vickery was 3 for 3 with an RBI, Ruby Lew was 2 for 2 with an RBI, and Sydney Siebert-Wilder was 2 for 4 with a double and four RBI for River.

COLUMBIA RIVER 21, INGLEMOOR 2 — Sydney Seibert-Wilder went 4 for 4 with a double and four RBI as the Rapids advanced to the third-place semifinal with a 21-2 win over Inglemoor in a loser-out game Friday.

Hailee Corona went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBI, and Ruby Lew went 3 for 4 with two RBI for River, which sealed the win with a 10-run fourth inning.

WALLA WALLA 16, KELSO 6 — Walla Walla surged into the lead with a nine-run third inning, then ended the game on the 10-run rule with a five-run fifth inning in a first-round game at the 3A/2A state tournament.

Lilee Sanders went 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Lynzee Gatlin went 2 for 3 for Kelso.

KELSO 12, CHIEF SEALTH 0 — Petyon Champagne went 3 for 3 with a double and Avery Mackin hit a three-run home run as the Hilanders shut out Chief Sealth on three hits to win a loser-out game.
