Letter: Support Perez for Congress

On a walk by the Columbia River in Washougal, I found myself crashing a volunteer event for Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. I already knew I would support Rep. Perez because the idea of Joe Kent representing our district is horrifying. When I heard her speak to a crowd of people who showed up not just for her but for our community, I was moved to action.

Rep. Perez said we need to be a nation of “fixers, doers, and stewards, not just consumers.” This is true on so many levels. To me, consuming refers not only to buying more stuff, building higher walls to separate ourselves from our neighbors, but also to gorging ourselves on memes, misinformation and even news. Knowledge is power but only if we use it.

Vote for Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. Vote for the future.
