Letter: Trump is incoherent

Very wisely, Democratic leaders urged Joe Biden to step aside as his party’s candidate due to his age and its obvious impacts on his mental acuity. One could expect Republicans would notice that their 78-year-old candidate, only three years younger than Joe Biden, becomes more incoherent by the day. Rather than offering insightful views on problems facing our country, Trump issues bizarre threats and accusations against anyone he perceives as his enemies.

Trump recently called for the use of the military to quash his political adversaries, has falsely and repeatedly accused legal immigrants of crimes they did not commit, and, most importantly, rarely presents clear plans for addressing our nation’s and world’s problems.

Trump increasingly demonstrates he is addled and unfit to be our president, yet where are the calls from his party’s leaders to have him step down as a candidate?

Republican politicians, in order to get reelected, are guided by self-interest and ideology, nothing else. This is why they cling to Donald Trump. If elected as our president, Trump will address none of our country’s formidable challenges, he will simply carry out an agenda devoted to his personal grievances and revenge against anyone who opposes him.
