Letter: Focus on rape, not abortion

By Sharon Irwin, Vancouver

Yes, every child should be “born in love” (Our Readers’ Views, Oct. 16). However, forcing a woman to give birth to a child after a horrific act such as rape is a separate issue.

The decision to have a child should be up to the woman, not some stranger who has not experienced rape, and knows nothing about the victim’s physical, emotional and financial situation. In other words, mind your own business! You should focus your energy on the real problem here, rape.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
