Letter: Trump shows his weakness

Former President Donald Trump is threatening CBS and ABC because he didn’t like their programming — ABC held the debate, CBS had an interview with Kamala Harris on “60 Minutes.”

One of the bedrock principles of our country is freedom of the press. His threats show just how weak of a man he is. You know who is strong? President Joe Biden. He was hammered by the press and media in spring and early summer because of his age. He didn’t threaten them. He understands freedom of the press. When he did decide to leave the race, he recommended another strong candidate — Vice President Harris. As a prosecutor, a district attorney and attorney general of California, she used the law to build cases against some very bad people and companies — and won.

And now the former president is raving about “enemies within.” He is trying to bring back McCarthyism. As lawyer Joseph Welch said back then, “Until this moment, senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. … You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?”

The weak ex-president has no sense of decency. Let’s make sure he loses in November.
