Two of Kelso’s six touchdowns Friday came on defense in its 42-13 home victory over Heritage in 3A Greater St. Helens League play.

Alex Dieter recovered a block punt in the end zone, and Mason Hanson’s 29-yard interception return for a touchdown sparked the Hilanders, who remain in second place in the 3A GSHL standings with two games remaining.

Kelso rushed out to a 21-0 lead, which included Dieter’s blocked punt for a score. Quarterback Tucker Amrine completed 9 of 12 passes, including two for touchdowns to Bryce Collins (20 yards) and Bryar Iddings (15).

Heritage (3-4, 0-3) scored both its touchdowns after trailing 42-0 in the fourth quarter on touchdown receptions by Treylon McGraw.

WASHOUGAL 28, R.A. LONG 0 — Elijah Franco had two touchdowns run and one touchdown pass and the Washougal defense recorded its second shutout.

Franco produced a highlight-reel play in the first quarter when he spun out of potential tackle-for-loss then reversed field for a 43-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

He added a 24-yard touchdown pass to Parker Cherry in the second quarter and a 13-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

KALAMA d. COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON, forfeit — Columbia-White Salmon forfeited its Trico League game to Kalama. Injuries have left the Bruins with not enough eligible varsity players.

The Bruins hope to return to the field next week against Fort Vancouver.
