Two of Kelso’s six touchdowns Friday came on defense in its 42-13 home victory over Heritage in 3A Greater St. Helens League play.
Alex Dieter recovered a block punt in the end zone, and Mason Hanson’s 29-yard interception return for a touchdown sparked the Hilanders, who remain in second place in the 3A GSHL standings with two games remaining.
Kelso rushed out to a 21-0 lead, which included Dieter’s blocked punt for a score. Quarterback Tucker Amrine completed 9 of 12 passes, including two for touchdowns to Bryce Collins (20 yards) and Bryar Iddings (15).
Heritage (3-4, 0-3) scored both its touchdowns after trailing 42-0 in the fourth quarter on touchdown receptions by Treylon McGraw.
