Ghost stories
The Clark County Historical Museum presents “Weird Washington: Washington’s Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets” as part of History on Tap at 7 p.m. today at the Kiggins Theatre in Vancouver. Jeff Davis, local authority on the odd, will explore Washington’s cryptids, supernatural occurrences, UFO sightings and colorful characters. Doors open at 6 p.m. at 1011 Main St., Vancouver. The city of Washougal will host the Pumpkin Harvest Festival from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hathaway Park, 732 25th St., Washougal. Families are invited to wear Halloween costumes, play games, win prizes and pick out a free pumpkin (one per child while supplies last; children must be accompanied by an adult). Masters of music
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA’s Chamber Music Series begins the 2024-25 season with the symphony’s Chamber Ensemble: String Quartet with Clarinet and Horn at 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main St., Vancouver. The concert will feature principal clarinet Igor Shakhman, principal horn Dan Partridge and a string quartet with violinists Rosie Jeong Kim and Elizabeth Doty, violist Jeremy Waterman and cellist Dieter Ratzlaf. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students, plus a $5 fee if purchased online at vancouversymphony.org.
Let your light shine
Vancouver Ballet Folklórico and local organizations will host Luminaria Dia De Muertos from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Esther Short Park, 301 W. Eighth St., Vancouver. This free event honors Dia de Muertos, an indigenous celebration that dates to before colonization of Mexico. Dia de Muertos honors those who have died through dance, music and a celebration of life.
