DogPaw Off Leash Parks invites the public to a Nov. 2 celebration of the completion of a new mural at Dakota Memorial Dog Park. The event starts a noon at the dog park, which is within Pacific Community Park on Northeast 172nd Avenue.

Local artist Bee Olson, who is the daughter of a Vancouver police officer, donated her time and talent to paint a mural honoring Dakota, a member of the Vancouver Police Department’s K-9 unit. Dakota was killed in the line of duty in 2007 while pursuing a suspect.
