Letter: Plan for golf course sale stinks

By Greg Jesser, VANCOUVER

It seems that everyone is disappointed with our county selling off yet another public recreation facility. That doesn’t bother our county councilors. Public opinion matters little to them.

Tri-Mountain Golf Course is not up for sale to the highest bidder, it is only being offered to a few developers who are willing to develop it the way the county wants. They won’t offer it to me or you or a golf operation that won’t develop it. If you doubt this fact, I encourage you to call the county and offer to buy it.

The roads and schools in Ridgefield are inadequate and can’t support more unbridled growth. Impact fee dollars never seem to make it to the schools or roads. Our county negotiates the fees away for their partner/developer friends. Perhaps that foul odor last week on the I-5 corridor was the stench of this rotten deal cooking in the clubhouse.
