The Columbian Editorial Board recommends a “no” vote on Initiative 2117 (“I-2117 would harm Washington, its residents,” In Our View, Oct. 4). If you haven’t read it, please do. If you have already, it is worth reading again.

There is no guarantee it would reduce gasoline prices, as several factors affect gasoline and diesel prices at the pump. Instead, there are many benefits already from the Climate Commitment Act.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
