WOODLAND – Last week, the Woodland Beavers racked up 34 points en route to a win. This week, they almost beat that total in one quarter.
Elijah Andersen rushed for four touchdowns and passed for another as Woodland blitzed the R.A. Long Lumberjacks with a 33-point second quarter in a 40-0 victory on Homecoming at Beaver Stadium.
The Beavers (4-2, 4-0) were the beneficiaries of great field position on their first four scores. Woodland’s Jack Lindsay and Will Clemons intercepted junior quarterback Jaxson Rivenes on the Lumberjacks’ (3-3, 2-2) first two possessions and returned them into R.A. Long territory. Andersen scored from seven yards out to put the Beavers on the board, and then Clemons made a one-hand grab over the middle and ran it in for a touchdown.
After a 14-yard run by Andersen made it 21-0, the Beavers parlayed two long punt returns by Andersen to put up two more touchdowns. The final tally came on Clemons’ second interception of the night which he turned into a 31-yard touchdown. It marked Clemons’ second straight game with two interceptions.
