Those who fear having to pay up to five grains of corn to pass over the river forget history. Settlers along the Oregon Trail had to pay tolls to ferry across to the sunny side of the river. Nearly 200 years since then, turnabout is fair play. We are finally having to pay to go the other way. Considering inflation on the dollar over this time period, we are getting a pretty good discount. I understand those who think five grains of corn are valuable, especially since it fuels the mules. Just recall, it is not about a loss of freedom that was somehow preserved in some part of past history.
