Letter: Reject Proposition 4 in Vancouver

By Caleb Patterson, Vancouver
Published: October 10, 2024, 6:00am

I urge a strong vote “no” on Proposition 4. The city of Vancouver is budgeted for roughly 10 more police officers than are currently employed. Money allocated within Proposition 4 would better be used on social workers, community services and other community resources.

People within our community are struggling to afford basic needs such as food and housing while receiving an average household income of $75,000. Meanwhile, Vancouver police receive $85,000-$115,000.

Vote “no” on Proposition 4.
