Clark County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Yacolt man Tuesday night after he allegedly shot his roommate and tenant in the face and chest with a 12-gauge shotgun.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remained in serious but stable condition at the hospital Wednesday, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Authorities did not release his name.

Deputies responded about 8:15 p.m. for a call about a disturbance with a weapon in the area of Northeast Beaver Brook Road and Eagle View Road in Yacolt.

A family member of the victim called 911 to report the man had been shot, unprovoked, by another resident of the home they all shared, according to the news release. The family member drove the victim away from the residence to Northeast Fargher Lake Highway, where deputies met them.

Deputies, using armored vehicles and unmanned aircraft systems, arrived at the residence. There, they arrested 50-year-old Jeremie Singer, with whom the tenant and his family had a contentious relationship, according to the news release.

Days prior, deputies responded to the residence about a landlord-tenant dispute. Detectives learned that both Singer and the victim had recently made claims of threats against each other, according to the news release.

Singer reportedly shot the tenant through the front window of the home after the man returned to pick up some belongings following his absence for several days, according to the news release.

Singer was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree domestic violence murder, due to the household relationship, and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He was scheduled to make a first appearance on the allegations Wednesday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
