Tim Walz in Seattle area for private fundraiser

Oct. 8—Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president, is in town Tuesday for a brief campaign stop.

Specific travel routes for Tuesday have not been released by the campaign. But drivers should anticipate traffic disruptions to their morning commute as Walz’s motorcade is expected to travel to Hunts Point for a 9 a.m. private fundraiser.

Walz has a heightened security detail as a vice presidential candidate and the Secret Service has the authority to require intermittent closures of freeways and streets during visits.

His visit, which includes no public events, will be short, as he is expected to travel to Sacramento, Calif., on Tuesday afternoon. Drivers should expect more traffic impacts as his motorcade heads to the airport for his departure.

Walz’s visit to Washington is happening with less than a month to go before Election Day and on the heels of his first and only televised debate last Tuesday night with former President Donald Trump’s running mate, U.S. Sen. JD Vance, a Republican from Ohio.

“With ballots already being cast in some states, it is more important than ever that we explain our vision for an opportunity economy that doesn’t just help families get by, but helps them get ahead,” the state Democratic Party said in a statement. “We look forward to helping Governor Walz make that case in the closing weeks of this election.”

Ballots will be sent to Washington voters starting next week and must be postmarked or placed in election drop boxes by Nov. 5.
