Oct. 7—Two Whitman College fraternity houses were struck by gunfire during late-night parties during the early hours of Sunday, Oct. 6, according to a Walla Walla Police Department news release.

No one was reported injured, and authorities are searching for a suspect.

Officers were dispatched at 2:45 a.m. to the 1000 block of Isaacs Avenue, according to the release. Witnesses were able to describe suspects and a vehicle. The release said several bullet holes were found.

The case is being investigated by the Walla Walla Regional Drug Gang Task Force, a multi-agency team that is composed of officers from the WWPD, the College Place Police Department, the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Department of Corrections.

On Sunday night, there was another report made to police of gunshots heard in the area; however, Walla Walla Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Nick Loudermilk confirmed that an investigation determined that fireworks were mistaken for gunfire.

Police ask that anyone with any information about the shooting to call 509-524-4365.
