Letter: Vance promotes falsehoods

JD Vance’s glib high school debate performance was overshadowed by his numerous misstatements, falsehoods and outright lies.

Several of the more egregious examples include his assertion that Trump “saved” Obamacare when, in fact, he did everything he could to repeal it, losing by one vote in the U.S. Senate thanks to a courageous John McCain. Vance’s claim that migrants are the root cause of America’s ills — including crime, affordable housing and stealing jobs from Americans — would be laughable if it wasn’t so cruel. Fortunately, he didn’t talk about migrants eating our pets. And last but certainly not least, his refusal to acknowledge Trump’s defeat in 2020 does not bode well for the 2024 election.

If America wants four more years of chaos, conflict and retribution, vote the Trump-Vance ticket. If we want leaders who exhibit optimism, competency and a level of compassion for all Americans, vote Harris-Waltz. The differences between the two could not be more stark.
