VANCOUVER — The National Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation honored Linda Reid with the Rita Corbin Burns Humanitarian Award on Sept. 23 at its annual Community Impact Reception. The city of Vancouver and Clark County both also honored Reid with proclamations.
The award is named after National Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation’s co-founding adviser Rita Burns, who died from cancer in 2013.
“The honoree of the award is recognized for his/her ability to positively impact and influence the lives of others, regardless their own personal challenges,” said Kami Corbin-Schroeder, Burns’ niece. “My aunt would have been so proud of Linda’s efforts to make a difference in the world, especially in the lives of children and her community.”
“Rita was a powerhouse for children, animals and making a difference in the world,” said Michelle Bart, founder of the National Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation. “Rita would have loved Linda and all she stands for in Clark County and beyond.”
Past honorees have included Etta Caver from Miami University and Robin Helm with Clark County.
