Letter: Nonprofit leaders earn their keep

By William J. Gerow Jr., VANCOUVER

Regarding Greg Flakus’ apparent complaint (“Nonprofit article is illuminating,” Our Readers’ Views, Sept. 28) about local nonprofit CEO salaries, I read the same Columbian story and came to a different conclusion.

When I looked at the reported staffing sizes and budgets of the nonprofit organizations mentioned in the story and when I considered the organizational complexities they must represent, I saw nothing out of line. If I were offered a chance to run PeaceHealth for $3 million, I would have to ask myself if it was worth the headache.
