Letter: Protect against domestic violence

By Carol Beatty, Vancouver
Published: November 29, 2024, 6:00am

Unbelievable to think that domestic violence cuts are even considered. Already, nearly 50 percent of domestic violence cases aren’t reported. Victims are ashamed and scared because the abuser will get out and do more harm or worse.

The families need protection from the abusers. The abuser needs to be fully prosecuted and punished. Tracking devices, domestic restraining orders and trespassing enforcement. Women and children are living in a nightmare already, then add the fear of no support from law enforcement and protection. We must protect families from domestic violence, no cuts.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
