Letter: Golf will endure

Regarding “County to sell Tri-Mountain Golf Course” (The Columbian, Nov. 21), Clark County Councilor Glen Yung’s comment gave me a chuckle when he referred to the covenant that will apply to the sale of the golf course. Mr. Yung said, “What happens if, in 100 years from now, golf isn’t even a sport anymore.”

Mr. Yung, the “modern” game of golf was invented in the 15th century and some historians trace the game to the Roman game of paganica, a game that involved using a bent stick to hit a wool- or feather-stuffed leather ball in/around 1 A.D.

I’m fairly sure golf will be around 100 years from now. Thanks for the laugh.
