La Center High School students create prosthetic legs in class on careers in science

New unit of the class will tackle forensic science

LA CENTER — A La Center High School teacher challenged her students to design and engineer a working prosthetic leg out of everyday materials.

Four years ago, Jill Cole created an elective class called careers in science for juniors and seniors to learn about paths outside of the typical white coat laboratory professions.
