Clark County can expect lots of rain in the coming days, although the flood risks predicted earlier have decreased, according to the National Weather Service in Portland.
The Vancouver-Portland area is “still expected to receive heavier precipitation Tuesday evening into Wednesday,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Tom Schuldt said.
He said the weather service expects a breezy night on Tuesday, followed by heavy rain late Thursday into Friday.
A series of storms are expected to bring ample rain to Southwest Washington and northwest Oregon, with possibly heavy snow falling above 2,500 feet. The Cascades could see as much as 15 inches of snow.
The main concern originally was heavy rainfall Tuesday night through Friday morning, which raised fears of flooded creeks and rivers. Some urban flooding is still expected around clogged storm drains.
Schuldt said that after evaluating precipitation levels, the weather service believes most of the heavier precipitation will fall south toward California.
The weather service forecasts southeast wind from 8 to 11 miles per hour with gusts as high as 21 miles per hour Tuesday, and rain every day this week.
Clark County can expect 1 to 3 inches of rain, with 1.5 to 6.5 inches on the coast.
Expect difficult driving conditions on mountain passes and more rain over the weekend.
