Prairie drew the No. 3 seed in Class 3A and Camas earned the No. 5 seed in 4A as brackets for the state volleyball tournaments were announced Sunday by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
Both local teams lost in the semifinals Saturday in their respective bi-district tournaments in Tacoma, but Prairie’s loss had less of an impact on its state seeding.
Prairie lost in five sets to North Thurston in the 3A bi-district semifinal on Saturday. The Rams went on to capture the bi-district title.
As the No. 3 seed in 3A, Prairie will play its round-of-16 match at 11:45 a.m. Friday at the Yakima SunDome. The Falcons will face the winner of a round-of-20 match between Kennewick and Eastside Catholic. North Thurston drew the No. 2 seed to state.
Camas lost in three sets to Kennedy Catholic in the bi-district semifinals on Saturday.
The fifth-seeded Papermakers will face No. 12 Glacier Peak at 9:45 a.m. Friday in a 4A round-of-16 match at the Yakima SunDome.
Kennedy Catholic drew the No. 3 seed, and bi-district champion Curtis is the No. 1 overall seed.
Football quarterfinals
Top-seeded Camas (11-0) will host No. 8 Arlington (10-1) in a 4A state quarterfinal football game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Doc Harris Stadium.
No. 7 Skyview (8-3) will travel to play at No. 2 Sumner (10-1) on Saturday. A game time has not yet been announced.
In the 1A quarterfinals, No. 3 La Center (9-1) will face No. 6 Montesano (7-3) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodland High School.
No. 2 Seton Catholic (10-0) will host No. 7 Life Christian (10-1). The game time, date and site has not yet been announced.
Girls soccer semifinals
Top-seeded Ridgefield will play No. 4 Bellingham in the Class 2A girls soccer state semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
In the other 2A semifinal at Mt. Tahoma, No. 3 Columbia River will meet No. 2 West Valley of Spokane at 5 p.m. Friday.
Also at Mt. Tahoma on Friday, No. 2 Seton Catholic will face No. 3 Bellevue Christian in 1A state semifinal at 1 p.m. Friday.
