On Nov. 12, 1924, Washougal High School beat Portland’s Grant High School “in one of the greatest games of football ever presented.” Washougal played more conservatively, but kept pace with Grant’s passing game with “line smashes and end runs.” The final score was 22-13.

On Nov. 10, 1949, officials began pondering the Washington Supreme Court’s ruling that pinball machines were a form of gambling and thus prohibited by state law. Chief Justice George B. Simpson wrote the court’s unanimous decision. In Vancouver, pinball licenses cost $10 per month plus 10 percent of gross revenue. The previous year, the city collected nearly $108,000 from more than 180 machines. Commissioner of Finance George Hutton said the lost funding could result in the “elimination of some major proposed city project(s) next year.”

It was announced on Nov. 11, 1974, that bus service would be expanded to Hazel Dell. Starting Nov. 18, three morning and afternoon express buses to Portland would be added. The addition followed a recommendation from the Columbia Regional Association of Governments, which also recommended adding express service to Mill Plain Boulevard.
