Letter: Racial, sexual biases persist

The presidential election revealed much about the candidates and fellow Americans.

In her campaign, Kamala Harris had at least four strikes against her: 1. She is a woman, 2. She is biracial, 3. She is shorter than Trump, and 4. She is a member of an unpopular administration. With a similar resume and campaign, a tall and fit white male, running against a female version of Donald Trump, would likely have won swing states by significant margins. Racial and sexual biases persist in America.

An old maxim holds that a debater who resorts to baseless name-calling has a weak argument, a weak mind or both. Apparently, our next president has both a weak mind and a weak argument.

Although fascistic Trump is a man lacking a single morally redeeming character quality, transactional MAGA “Christians” who talk the talk, but fail to walk the way boosted Trump to victory. Trump has clearly established himself as America’s greatest con man as he now gets a pass for his multiple felonies.

We can hope President Trump puts aside threats to settle scores for perceived wrongs and chooses to serve all Americans and really put our nation first.
