Nov. 12—Two women found themselves running and screaming through Bigelow Park Sunday night as a man drove into the park and chased after them in a light blue SUV, according to Olympia police.

The women, ages 34 and 26, ran to a house to get help, Police Lt. Paul Lower said.

About 8:50 p.m., the women were walking in the 1200 block of Bigelow Avenue Northeast when they saw the man standing by his vehicle and staring at them.

It made them feel uncomfortable, so one of the women asked if he was OK. He then started to yell at them, saying he had overheard their conversation, Lower said.

They walked away but the man kept yelling at them. They decided to cut through the park, but that’s when the man got into his vehicle and drove in their direction.

The two women then ran through the park, but he drove into the park as well and chased after them, Lower said.

They finally ran to a house and knocked on the door for help before calling 911.

Police, already in the area, arrested the 26-year-old man on suspicion of first-degree assault and felony harassment, Lower said.
