Girls soccer roundup: Two goals by Shaylie Haij not enough for King’s Way Christian in a 5-2 loss to Cashmere

Camas, Hockinson and R.A. Long also eliminated with road losses.

Shaylie Haij scored two first-half goals but it wasn’t enough to keep up with a potent Cashmere team as the King’s Way Christian girls soccer team fell 5-2 on Wednesday in a Class 1A state tournament match in Cashmere.

Haij had goal off a free kick and a second unassisted goal, but King’s Way went into the intermission down 4-2.

Lauren Lewis recorded 13 saves in goal as the Knights’ season came to an end. It was King’s Way Christian’s first trip to the state playoffs since reaching the 1A state title game in 2018.

CURTIS 1, CAMAS 0 — Curtis made a first-half goal stand up to end the Papermakers’ season in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.

BAINBRIDGE 2, HOCKINSON 0 — Audrey Armstrong and Leeann Williams each had three saves in goals as the Hawks’ season ended with a road game in the 2A state playoffs.

NORTH KITSAP 1, R.A. LONG 0 — R.A. Long’s season ended with a road loss in the 2A state playoffs.
