Nominees for The Columbian 2024-25 Week 9 prep athlete of the week sponsored by Killer Burger

Athletes from Camas, King's Way Christian, Columbia River, Ridgefield and Washington School for Deaf

Here are the nominees for The Columbian 2024-25 Week 9 high school athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger.

Voting will continue until 7 p.m. Thursday.

To avoid vote manipulation, participants are being asked to log-in with their Columbian.com account or to sign-up for a free account before casting a vote.

Nominees are selected by The Columbian staff after a review of the previous week’s results. Suggestions for nominees can by made by anyone, but must be received by 6 p.m. Sunday for consideration.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Tuesday and runs through Thursday.

Here are the nominees:

COHEN BUTLER, CAMAS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: The junior placed fifth overall in 15:36 in the 4A race at the state meet in Pasco.

JASMINE CARNEY, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN GIRLS SOCCER: The sophomore scored four goals and added one assist in two district playoff wins.

SOPHIA GOURLEY, COLUMBIA RIVER VOLLEYBALL: The sophomore averaged 19 kills, five digs and two aces in three wins in the district tournament.

REBECCA YAMADA, RIDGEFIELD GIRLS SWIMMING: The senior won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke at the 2A District 4 championship meet.

DIMAS ZEPEDA-MONTOTO, WASHINGTON SCHOOL FOR DEAF FOOTBALL: The sophomore passed for 150 yards and one 1 TD, rushed for 180 yards and 4 TDs and caught a TD pass in win over Mary M. Knight.
