Ridgefield’s Rebecca Yamada edged out Paige Dangleis of Hockinson by one-one hundredths of a second in the 200 individual medley to highlight the performances at the 2A/1A District IV girls swimming championships at Mark Morris High School.

The top four placers in each event qualify for the state swimming and diving championships next weekend at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Yamada, the defending Class 2A state champion in the 100 breaststroke, won the 200 IM in 2 minutes, 16.78 seconds. Dangleis came in at 2:16.79. Yamada also won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.10) as one of two Ridgefield swimmers to earn two individual titles. Teammate Medea Rusu won the 100 backstroke (1:02.92) and 200 freestyle (2:04.99).

Dangleis took the 100 freestyle district title (55.72) as one of three first-place swims for Hockinson. Teammate Georgina Romero won the 100 butterfly (1:02.81) and both Dangleis and Romero helped Hockinson take the 200 medley relay.

Columbia River captured the district team title with 318 points.

Other individual district-title winners were: Woodland’s Karlen Stuart (50 freestyle), Seton Catholic’s Jordan Zaemann (500 freestyle). Seton Catholic won both the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays with Zaemann as the lead-off swimmer in both events.
