Letter: Get out there and vote

By Rolf Knapp, VANCOUVER
Published: November 4, 2024, 6:00am

Why should anybody care to vote in this election? Ask me and I will give you a hundred reasons why this election does not make one bit of difference to the lives of everyday people in this town or anywhere else.

Let me be clear about this: People in this town are in full-blown survival mode. Nobody cares whether you are a Democrat, Republican, independent or anything else. Politics with the locals takes a back seat to who pays the rent, buys the groceries and covers the credit card bill. There are four words to describe Vancouver (gutless, irresponsible, no leadership), and I will add bad, reckless drivers with no cops on the streets to bust these creeps.

In summary: As a 15-year resident of this town, I don’t begrudge the good people who live here. After all, you are my next-door neighbors and friends who I see on a daily basis. I admit that I carry many bad feelings and experiences trying to keep my family here in Vancouver. So get out there and vote and make change happen. Time for action.
