Letter: Trump is showing his age

By David C. Schroeder, Vancouver

Poor Donald Trump. He is the oldest presidential candidate in U.S. history, and unfortunately showing his age of late. His campaign staff excuses his current condition by saying that he is suffering from “exhaustion.”

Worse, his running mate, JD Vance, wrote the forward to a book from the architect of Project 2025. Project 2025 lays out in great detail how, if Trump is reelected, our democracy will become an autocracy. That is, government by the few and for the few.

What if Trump’s age and declining health prevent him from serving a full four-year term? Wouldn’t JD Vance then advance to president?
