Letter: Improve ballot security

By Kristina Dryagin Marquez, Vancouver
Published: November 2, 2024, 6:00am

A destructive action on our republic is unacceptable. Why would someone do that? It is not right that someone burned the ballot boxes in Vancouver and Portland. The fire-suppression system should have worked, but it did not. Whoever is in charge of the fire-suppression systems should go and update them. That person who oversees and/or the workers who work for him or her should check all the systems, see if they are expired and make sure they all will work.

I hope cameras show who did it and they find them. I like that they are going to change the way they get the ballots; they are going to get the ballots in the evening. I think some people are going to put their ballots in a more secure place because of what happened.
