Letter: Make sure to vote

By Ken Paul, VANCOUVER
Published: November 1, 2024, 6:00am

I will not take sides here, just a request that everyone vote. It is one of the most important things you can do for our country.

I have voted in every election, federal, state, and local since I was first eligible in 1972. What have I learned in 52 years of voting? You win some and you lose some, and you get another chance in two and four years. That is not a very long time.

In those 52 years and way before me, our system swings back and forth, as it was intended. Our country, states and localities have survived. So please vote. If your side loses this time around, just work on finding a better candidate, or better messaging of your side’s ideology and plans for next time. We always get to vote again in a relatively short time.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
