Letter: Abortion choice not made lightly

By Dave Bogdon, Brush Prairie

Gerry Parmantier (“Consider ‘choice,’ available services,” Our Readers’ Views, May 27) says, with regard to abortion, “Many, perhaps most, who choose abortion do so ignorant of the tiny life growing within them. Many, perhaps most, who choose abortion do so ignorant of the pregnancy resources available.”

I suspect that, to the contrary, women who choose to have an abortion do so precisely because of, not in the absence of, their awareness of what’s growing inside them.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
