1A/2B/1B track and field: Tucker Wyninger of Stevenson, Tony Peonio of Kalama win pole vault state titles

Tucker Wyninger of Stevenson and Tony Peonio of Kalama captured state titles in the pole vault at the Class 1A/2B/1B state track and field meet Friday in Yakima.

Wyninger won the 1A pole vault title, clearing 14 feet, 3 inches, over Kanoa Rogan of Freeman, who cleared 14-0.

In the 2B meet, Peonio repeated as pole vault state champion, winning with a vault of 14 feet. Teammate Jason Sanders was third at 12-6.

Caleb Silva had a competitive battle in the 1A boys high jump, clearing 6 feet, 7 inches. But he ultimately placed second to Trenton Sandborn of Freeman, who also cleared 6-7 but on fewer attempts. Kaiden Wilson of Seton Catholic was fourth at 6-0.
