One person was hospitalized for severe burns after a fire early Thursday morning at Lincoln Place apartments in downtown Vancouver.
The Vancouver Fire Department responded about 8 a.m. to a fire alarm at 1351 Lincoln Ave. Responding crews found a fire on the third floor and upgraded the call to a commercial structure fire for additional units, according to a department news release.
The sprinkler system kept the blaze from spreading, the fire department said.
Crews found a person in the room where the fire originated. Paramedics treated the patient in the ambulance on the way to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. Two other residents were evaluated but declined treatment, according to the fire department.
The fire was deemed under control in less than 25 minutes, according to the news release. The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire with the Vancouver Police Department.
