Letter: Trump promises to sell out

Allison Fisher of Media Matters reported May 15 that with the exception of MSNBC, national television news failed to cover the extraordinary story in The Washington Post that Donald Trump told oil executives that if they gave $1 billion to his campaign, he would get rid of all the regulations the Biden administration has enacted to combat climate change.

Remember Teapot Dome? Big scandal in the 1920s that has come to represent a corrupt presidency. The former Secretary of the Interior went to jail for selling government favors to oil companies. He received a bribe of more than $300,000, which pales beside the $1 billion demanded by Trump for similar favors.

Media reporting matters.
