We just returned from a trip to Japan. My wife and I went to our community park this morning to do our daily walk and I couldn’t help but notice the difference from what we observed in Japan.
The portable toilet was trashed and there was litter all along the walking trail, even with numerous trash receptacles available. In Japan, one doesn’t see trash on the ground or in the public restrooms. This was in a city of 3.5 million people, Kyoto.
On top of that there are basically no garbage cans available. One is expected to carry a small bag to place your garage in and take it home for disposal. The contrast was glaring to say the least.
